Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for thickening
For the Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats old-fashioned
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, ground cinnamon, and salt until crumbly and well-combined. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
Baking
  1. Evenly spread the oat mixture over the top of the apple layer, ensuring all apples are covered.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  3. Allow the Apple Crisp to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
