Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes. Make sure to break it apart as it cooks.
- Once cooked, drain excess fat if necessary, and remove the skillet from heat. Let the sausage cool for a few moments, then mix in the cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined and creamy.
- Unroll the crescent rolls on a clean surface. You should have triangles of dough.
- Spoon a generous amount of the sausage mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Top with a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
- Roll the crescent from the wide end to the tip, enclosing the filling. Place each rolled crescent on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and flaky. The crescents are done when they are puffed up and beautifully golden.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm. Don’t forget to garnish with fresh herbs and have hot sauce on the side for an added kick!
Notes
Use different meats like ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option, or make it vegetarian with sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, and spinach mixed with cream cheese. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for the best texture.
