Ingredients

For the Wings
  • 2 pounds chicken wings (fresh, organic preferred) Fresh wings are recommended for the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Helps enhance flavor and texture.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (fresh or canned, no added sugar) Fresh juice adds great flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium for a healthier option) Can be substituted for gluten-free options.
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar Adds a tangy twist.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with salt, pepper, and olive oil until fully coated.
Baking
  1. Arrange the wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly oiled and bake for about 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well-combined and bubbling, about 5 minutes.
  2. Reduce heat and let simmer for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Glazing the Wings
  1. Remove wings from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the wings and toss to coat thoroughly.
  2. Return the glazed wings to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize.
Serving
  1. Let the wings cool for a few minutes, then plate and serve.

Notes

Use fresh chicken wings for best flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
