  • 2 pounds russet or Yukon gold potatoes Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 14 ounces smoked sausage Can choose your favorite brand or type, sliced into rounds.
  • 1 ounce ranch seasoning mix Brings flavor; can use homemade for personalization.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese A blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack works wonderfully.
  • 1 cup sour cream Adds creaminess and balances richness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, sliced smoked sausage, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir until well-coated.
  3. Spread the mixture in an even layer in a greased baking dish.
  4. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and stir the mixture.
  2. Add the shredded cheese and sour cream, mixing well.
  3. Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added crunch, top with breadcrumbs or crushed crackers during the last 5 minutes of baking. Experiment with different types of smoked sausage or add bell peppers or onions for extra flavor. Serve with Greek yogurt or chives for freshness.
