Ingredients
  

For the Biscuits
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour make sure it's fresh for the best texture
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder try to use high-quality cocoa for rich flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste if you prefer it sweeter
  • 1 tsp baking powder to help them rise
  • 1/4 tsp salt to balance the sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened can be replaced with margarine if needed
For the Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips dark, milk, or even white chocolate can be used
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for that extra layer of flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 1/4 tsp of salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter until it’s light and fluffy.
  4. Add the dry mixture into the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Fold in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract.
  6. Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of dough and roll them into balls.
Baking
  1. Place them about 2 inches apart on a lined baking sheet.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for the best blending. Store the biscuits in an airtight container for up to a week. They also freeze well.
