Ingredients

For the Bread
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Filling
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well-combined.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. For the filling, combine diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly. Pour half of the apple mixture over the batter, pressing it down gently.
  2. Repeat by layering the remaining batter and topping it with the remaining apple mixture. Gently swirl the batter and apple filling together.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. While the loaf cools, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and enjoy!
