Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and let it preheat fully.
- Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Season the Fish: Pat the halibut fillets dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Arrange the Fillets: Place the seasoned halibut fillets in the greased baking dish, skin side down if applicable.
Cooking
- Make the Herb Butter Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the minced garlic, parsley, dill, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour the Sauce: Drizzle the herb butter sauce evenly over the halibut fillets, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
- Bake the Halibut: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the halibut from the oven and garnish with fresh lemon slices on top before serving.
Notes
Serve with steamed veggies or a light salad. For added spice, include red pepper flakes in the herb butter. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
