Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast Use fresh yeast for the best results.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar To help activate the yeast.
  • 1 cup warm water About 110°F.
  • 2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour For a gluten-free option, substitute with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Optional Toppings
  • Pizza sauce, shredded cheese, sliced vegetables, pepperoni, or any preferred toppings.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly, indicating that the yeast is activated.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ½ cups of flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If it feels too sticky, gradually add in more flour until you reach the desired consistency.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 15-30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Once rested, roll the dough out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  7. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Top it with sauce and your favorite toppings. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Notes

You can customize your toppings according to dietary preferences. For an extra flavor boost, mix in dried oregano or garlic powder into the dough. The dough can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours or frozen for up to 3 months.
