Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain for tenderness
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium works well
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for that tender, velvety texture
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or sesame oil for extra flavor
For the Broccoli
  • 3 cups broccoli florets fresh, bright, and crunchy
  • 1 piece red bell pepper, sliced adds sweetness and color
For the Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce rich and savory
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced the star ingredient!
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced adds a zing
  • 1 tablespoon honey for a touch of sweetness

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef, then let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and honey until smooth. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned but slightly pink in the center. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add a splash of oil if necessary, then toss in the broccoli and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3 minutes until they are bright and slightly tender, yet still crisp.
  3. Return the beef to the pan with the veggies. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything to coat evenly. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Using fresh, high-quality ingredients will elevate your dish significantly. Feel free to swap flank steak for chicken or tofu for a different protein twist. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet to maintain the texture.
