Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • cups all-purpose flour (plus extra if needed)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 4 tbsp olive oil

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • whisk or spoon
  • clean kitchen towel
  • rolling pin
  • baking pan or pizza stone

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the flour, salt, Italian seasoning (if using), and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 60–90 minutes).
  5. Punch down the dough to release air. Roll or stretch into your desired pizza shape.
  6. Top with your favorite ingredients and bake at 475°F (245°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Use warm (not hot) water to activate the yeast properly. Add herbs or garlic for extra flavor. The dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months. Let it come to room temperature before baking for the best rise.
