Ingredients

For the Fish
  • 4 fillets white fish (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut) Choose high-quality fish, ideally fresh or properly thawed.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Topping
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko works great for extra crunch) Substitute with gluten-free options if needed.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Can be omitted for dairy-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Optional Garnish
  • to taste lemon wedges for serving
  • to taste fresh herbs like dill or extra parsley

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture evenly over the fish fillets, coating both sides.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, paprika, and lemon juice. Mix well until combined.
  4. Press the breadcrumb mixture onto the top of each fish fillet.
Baking
  1. Place the coated fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The topping should be golden-brown and crunchy.
  2. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the fillets in herbs or citrus before baking. Add spices like cayenne pepper for a kick. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the oven to maintain crispiness.
