Method
- Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium heat to prevent sogginess.
- In a small bowl, mix Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder for the crust coating.
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Sprinkle with Parmesan mixture and press lightly.
- On the plain side of one bread slice, spread marinara, top with mozzarella and pepperoni, then close with another bread slice (buttered side out).
- Press a few pepperoni slices onto the outside of the buttered bread for extra crunch.
- Cook sandwiches in skillet for 4–6 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Transfer to a cutting board, slice in half, and serve immediately.
Notes
Use low-moisture mozzarella for the best melt and stretch. Try vegetarian toppings like mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers for a lighter twist. Swap mozzarella with provolone or cheddar for a different flavor. Gluten-free bread works great if needed. Serve hot with tomato soup or extra marinara for dipping.
