Preparation
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the mixed nuts for about 5-6 minutes. Stir frequently until they are fragrant and lightly browned.
Cooking
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, water, vanilla extract, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Allow the mixture to boil without stirring for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until it turns a deep amber color.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir the toasted nuts into the sugar mixture. Mix thoroughly to ensure all nuts are evenly coated.
- Quickly transfer the nut mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it out into an even layer.
- Let it cool for about 30 minutes or until it sets hard. Once cooled, break it into clusters or pieces of your desired size.
- Store your Praline Crunch in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Notes
Experiment with flavors: Try adding cinnamon, nutmeg, or even a splash of maple syrup for a flavor twist. For a nut-free option, substitute nuts with seeds such as sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.
