Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, breakfast sausage, drained Rotel tomatoes, and shredded cheese. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
- Add in the biscuit mix, garlic powder, and onion powder if using. Stir the mixture until everything is well combined. You may need to use your hands to get a good mix.
- Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each ball.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Allow the sausage balls to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a serving platter.
Notes
For best flavor, use high-quality sausage and fresh cheese. You can prepare the mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge. These sausage balls freeze beautifully! Experiment with different cheeses or spice levels based on your preferences.
