  • 1 pound ground turkey look for lean or extra-lean for a healthier option
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
For the Smoky Flavor
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika this is essential for that smoky taste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder adjust according to your heat preference
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
Fresh Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced red or green
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
For Extra Goodness
  • 1 cup corn kernels frozen or fresh
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by greasing your slow cooker with a little olive oil or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In the slow cooker, add the browned turkey, diced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, crushed tomatoes, black beans, kidney beans, and corn.
Cooking
  1. Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir everything together well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  2. Cover and set your slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 3-4 hours. Your chili is done when the vegetables are tender and flavors meld beautifully.
Serving
  1. Give it a good stir before serving. You can adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt or spices based on your preference.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or even plant-based meat substitutes for a vegetarian option. Customize the spices and vegetables to your liking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
