Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it hot and ready for baking.
- In a bowl, combine the chopped spinach, feta, ricotta, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until everything is evenly blended.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of thawed puff pastry into a rectangle, approximately 10×12 inches.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the rectangle into 1-inch wide strips.
Assembly and Baking
- Place about a tablespoon of the filling at one end of each strip.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and twist the ends together to form a spiral shape.
- Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Allow the twists to cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, straight from the oven!
Notes
These twists can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to retain crispiness. You can prepare the twists ahead of time and refrigerate them until you're ready to bake. For a vegetarian option, feel free to add additional vegetables like artichokes or sun-dried tomatoes to the filling for extra flavor.
