Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter onto your prepared baking sheet and smooth it out into an even layer. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once completely cooled, cut the cake into rectangular shapes, about the size of sushi rolls.
Assembly
- Lay down a rectangular piece of cake, then spread a layer of whipped cream, followed by a line of sliced strawberries. Ensure there’s a small edge at the ends for easier rolling.
- Carefully roll the cake, starting from one end, and gently press until a tight roll forms.
- Place seam-side down and slice into bite-sized pieces.
- Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For best texture, eat it fresh. Variations include using different fruits like bananas or peaches and gluten-free options.
