Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour Look for blends that contain xanthan gum for best results
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Optional for added flavor
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water About 110°F
For the Toppings
  • 1 cup pizza sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to substitute with dairy-free cheese if desired
  • Your choice of additional toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.)

Method

Preheat the Oven
  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 475°F (245°C). This high temperature will ensure a crispy crust.
Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, salt, baking powder, and garlic powder. Whisk them together until well blended.
Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. In a separate bowl, mix together the olive oil and warm water. The warmth helps activate the ingredients.
Form the Dough
  1. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Shape the Crust
  1. Flour your hands lightly and transfer the dough to a parchment-lined pizza stone or baking sheet. Press and stretch the dough into your desired shape.
Pre-Bake the Crust
  1. Place the shaped crust into the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, until it begins to firm up.
Add Sauce and Toppings
  1. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the crust, then sprinkle cheese and any additional toppings.
Bake Again
  1. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is golden.
Cool and Slice
  1. Allow the pizza to cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.

Notes

For variations, consider adding dried herbs to the crust or using different sauces. Leftover pizza can be wrapped and stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
